There ought to be a friendfeedy/dogpile river interface which tracked lots of different sites that mention a company name or brand keyword. These exist for some individual sites already but I'm not sure if there is a aggregator that pulls from multiple apis.
Since posting this back in May I've been extremely impressed with Google Alerts' sensitivity and depth, to the extent where I'm voting my own topic down.
